Position Summary: As part of a small team, you will be supporting the the Electrical & Avionics Lead Engineer and the overall IPT. In this position you will integrate electrical and avionics systems into current and proposed new aircraft designs. You will produce electrical drawings such as wiring diagrams, harness assemblies, schematics, and installation drawings and support less experienced engineers in doing so. You will perform bench and other testing activities and prepare documentation in support of FAA certification activities. Depending on experience, you may also take ownership of the design of specific sub-systems.
Essential Job Functions:
Create and revise system specifications, system schematics, wiring diagrams, and component installation drawings
Review equipment manufacturer installation manuals for the integration of components into the aircraft design
Research component specifications for installation into aircraft with the appropriateness of design and installation and with respect to environmental considerations
Work with internal and external customers to provide investigation, analysis, and troubleshooting, and resolution of issues
Create and Revise System Description and Requirements Documents
Create and Revise Part 23 Certification Documentation (FHA, PSSA, SSA, AV/EL Substantiation reports, Test Plans and Reports, PSCPs, etc.)
Be responsible for DO-160 qualification test requirements definition, test plan creation, test setup and test article conformity activities, test execution, test results gathering / processing, and test report creation.
Participate in general IPT project meetings as required during the development of a specific project
Support other IPT disciplines, as required, in the preparation of material for presentation at design and program reviews
Conduct software bench testing, validation testing, as well as support all aspects of ground and flight testing for electrical and avionics related aspects of the program
Perform trade studies
Required Education and Experience:
Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or related discipline
Minimum of six (6) years of experience with electrical and / or avionics system installation development and certification or equivalent combination of education and practical experience
Proficiency with Microsoft Windows file operations and Microsoft Office and be adept at data entry into existing spreadsheets and/or creating new spreadsheets
Proficiency in CAD modeling and design practices using Siemens NX and Capital Harness, and engineering configuration management using Teamcenter
Familiarity Fault Tree Analysis and System Safety Analysis using PTC Windchill
Preferred Education and Experience:
An understanding and working knowledge of Federal Aviation Regulations (FAR) Part 23 and associated guidance material as it pertains to this technical discipline.
Ability to be able to move in and out of the office/plant without restrictions during on-airplane troubleshooting activities.
Familiarity with Garmin G3000 avionic system software and/or aircraft integration.
Familiarity with coding languages such as C, C++, Python or Java
