As a member of the Product Development IPT, you will support the Airframe Design Lead Engineer in all aspects of airframe design.
You will lead primary and secondary structural design efforts for current and future aircraft, producing CAD models, detail drawings, major and minor assembly drawings, and installation documentation.
In this role, you may also direct the work of design engineers and cross-functional team members to develop new and modified designs that meet FAA certification requirements and company standards.
Essential Functions:
Produce conceptual layouts, manual installation, and assembly design and detail drawings using Siemens NX computer aided design (CAD)
Design new airframe components, assemblies, and installations
Compose Engineering Orders (EO) to release new drawings, correct drafting/design errors, revise design, or incorporate changes/modifications to existing three dimensional models and drawings utilizing Siemens NX
Lead and direct engineering and design personnel in the creation of new and modified designs
Establish schedule for design/drafting tasks based upon available manpower
Track departmental programs drawings status and coordinate team / individual drawing schedule responsibilities
Interact with outside vendors for the purpose of hardware selection
Coordinate design work with stress analysts, aerodynamics, manufacturing, supply management, and other team members
Review and validate installations and components through simulation, analysis, and test data interpretation
Support production in the troubleshooting of assembly, installation, and operational problems
Provide technical support for Legal, Marketing and Sales, and Customer Service departments
Participate in general IPT project meetings as required during the development of a specific project
Support the IPT, as required, in the preparation of material for presentation at design and program reviews
Perform other related duties as required

Required Education and Experience:
Bachelor of Science in Engineering; preferably Mechanical or Aerospace, with six (6) years of directly related experience, or equivalent
General knowledge of all phases of aircraft design, approval, manufacturing, and service; including familiarity with all manufacturing processes and techniques relative to fabrication and assembly
Proficiency in CAD modeling, best design practices, and engineering configuration management
Familiarity with Microsoft Office suite
Preferred Education and Experience:
Proficiency in Siemens NX CAD and Teamcenter for configuration management
An understanding and working knowledge of Federal Aviation Regulations (FAR) Part 23 and associated guidance material as it pertains to this technical discipline
