Director of Assembly/Integration

SUMMARY
A Director of Assembly and Integration for eVTOL (Piloted / Uncrewed) aircraft leads the teams for small volume assembly/manufacturing operations, scheduling, final vehicle integration, supplier oversight and company/FAA conformity compliance. Key responsibilities include overseeing assembly of prototype aircraft, overseeing integration / troubleshooting, eventually scaling production once final production design is determined, managing cross-functional engineering teams, and overseeing factory-floor build execution.

ROLE OVERVIEW
  • Position Goal: Deliver safe, high-reliability manned electric aircraft from prototype to serial production.
  • Core Focus: Bridging design engineering, manufacturing execution, quality control, through airworthiness certification.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Production Leadership: Direct assembly, integration, and testing of complex subassemblies, flight controls, avionics, and energy storage systems.
  • Process Optimization: Implement Design for Manufacturability (DFM), Lean Manufacturing, and process methodologies.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Partner with quality and certification teams to satisfy strict Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) standards.
  • Operational Management: Oversee  department personnel, budgets, resource allocation, tooling strategies, and master production schedules.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS
  • Education: Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, or Manufacturing Engineering. [1, 2, 3]
  • Experience: 10+ years in aerospace or advanced electromechanical manufacturing, with 5+ years in an executive or senior leadership capacity. [1, 2]
  • Technical Skills: Deep familiarity with PLM/ERP software, and aerospace quality systems (AS9100).
